Pony Espresso was founded in 1995 in historic Jacksonville as the first drive-thru coffeehouse in Southern Oregon. Our namesake, “Pony Espresso,” was inspired by the historic Pony Express, known for its speedy “express” delivery of mail to the West. Our speedy drive-thru espresso service (express in Italian) is reminiscent of the way the Pony riders would stay on their horses as they sped through towns to collect and deliver mail, as our customers do from their cars (and sometimes on horseback). Come for delicious coffee and treats!
In 2015, Pony Espresso expanded once again to downtown Ashland in the beautiful Plaza West Building on Lithia Way. Since day one, it has enjoyed tremendous success thanks to the warm embrace of the Ashland community. With the opening of the East Medford location in 2024, Pony Espresso now has the perfect trifecta.
The year 2025 marks the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of Pony Espresso and we couldn’t have made it without our dedicated team of fellow employees and the outstanding support of our fiercely loyal customers.
